Mandalas, meaning “circles” in Sanskrit, are sacred symbols that are used for meditation, prayer, healing and art therapy for both adults and children. Mandalas have been shown in clinical studies to boost the immune system, reduce stress and pain, lower blood pressure, promote sleep and ease depression. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this modern art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special workshop and invited Garima Tomer.

Garima Tomer is a mandala artist from Uttar Pradesh. She has been into art since her  childhood but stopped after college. Lockdown gave her a little push to start her artistic journey again and she began doing Zentangles. Eventually she came across mandalas and haven’t stopped since then. She has done 20+ workshops individually and with different art organisations. She also does one on one sessions and has been a judge for mandala art contests. Her mandalas give her peace and power and she will continue to keep doing it till her last breath.

Mandala With Watercolour Workshop Began

Garima Tomer began the workshop with an introduction of Mandala art. She explained all the materials needed to draw the mandala. Later, she started sketching and explained each step in detail.

She effortlessly designed and described each step so that the attendees could follow her easily. She elaborated about the concentric circles and their measurements. We also had a small fun poll while working on the artworks. Garima monitored the progress of the attendees and gave feedback respectively.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

At the end of the workshop, most of the attendees had created their beautiful watercolour mandala.  The attendees were very excited to showcase the mandalas over the camera. Garima  appreciated each of the attendee’s mandala and suggested some pattern variations. She also shared other techniques to complete the mandala. The experience was very interesting and new learning to all the attendees.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
