Knife Painting Workshop: Knife Painting is a painting technique that makes use of an artist’s knife with a flexible steel blade used to apply paint to the canvas. The blade can be of different lengths and shapes – triangular, rectangular or more diamond-like. To experience this unique technique of painting, Rajasthan Studio curated a Navratri Special Knife Painting Workshop and invited Amrita Sequeira, who is a mother of two kids and a self-learned artist. She started to explore art to create a creative environment for her kids. Through the years, this thought motivated her to start her own venture, CamperScamperStudio with the constant support of her family.
The Knife Painting Workshop Began
Amrita began the experience by briefing about all the materials and the knives required for the painting. Then, she marked the points on the canas and demonstrated how to draw the peacock. She shared some useful hacks to draw a proportionate peacock by dividing the canvas into four halves. The attendees drew along with her.
Then, Amrita started to demonstrate how to fill in the acrylic colour using knives. She also explained the basics of using a knife and the different types of strokes that can be made while painting. Layer over layer she added colours to build the visual texture, starting from using white and burnt sienna in the background, to defining the peacock using hues and shades of blues and greens. Amrita added the feather and eye details of the peacock, defining the features of the peacock.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
At the end of the workshop, the attendees were curious to showcase their colourful peacocks over the camera. The attendees left Amrita amused with their artworks. She appreciated all the artwork done by attendees and shared some very useful suggestions to enhance the painting even more. The attendees successfully learnt a new style of painting. The experience was skillful yet entertaining.
The attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform.
Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
Here’s us signing off until next time!
